Get started

Set up in two minutes

You install one thing: the Gmail add-on. Slack is connected from inside the add-on the first time you use it. There is no separate Slack app to install.

  1. 1

    Install the Gmail add-on

Install Gmail To Slack from the Google Workspace Marketplace and allow it when Google asks. It only gets access to the email you have open.

The Marketplace listing is being published. The install button will appear here as soon as it is live.

  2. 2

Open an email, then the add-on

In Gmail, open any email and click the Gmail To Slack icon in the right-hand side panel. If you do not see it, click the small arrow at the bottom right to expand the panel.

  3. 3

    Connect Slack, once

Press Connect Slack and approve the permissions in your Slack workspace. Messages will then be posted as you. If your workspace restricts apps, Slack will ask an admin to approve first.

  4. 4

    Choose a channel and send

Pick one of your public or private channels and press Send. The email and its attachments (up to 15 MB) appear in Slack under your name.

Troubleshooting

I do not see the add-on in Gmail
Reload Gmail, open an email (not just the list) and check the side panel on the right. Your Google Workspace admin may also need to allow the add-on.
Slack asks for admin approval
Your workspace restricts new apps. Ask a Slack admin to approve Gmail To Slack, then press Connect Slack again.
“Your Slack connection expired”
Reopen the add-on and press Connect Slack to reconnect.
I want to remove everything
Open the add-on home screen and press Disconnect Slack to delete the stored connection. You can also uninstall the add-on from Google Workspace Marketplace and remove the app in Slack.
